The ACCESS-2-LIFE Advancement Program was initiated out of the understanding that many learners start their Grade 10 studies with the intention of making it all the way to the Grade 12 final exams. However, due to various factors along the way, a significant number of learners never make it to the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate or struggle to do well in the exams. GEAR-UP TUTORING and MAFISA CONSULTING EDUCATION (PTY) LTD developed a program to equip Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners to successfully advance beyond the Grade 12 exams. Team members have over 21 years of combined expertise, knowledge and practice in student support, teaching, tutoring and development. The ACCESS-2-LIFE Advancement Program has three levels:
A. The FOUNDATION Level [GRADES 10]: Using a selection of Grade 10 subjects and life skills workshops, the FOUNDATION level is designed to establish a solid base in the life of the learner. This is our first phase in learner development.
B. The BRIDGE Level [GRADES 11]: Learners are given the skills and subject knowledge to bridge the gap between what they learnt in Grade 11 and where they need to be by the time they start their final year of secondary schooling. The BRIDGE exposes them to the idea that preparation for life after Grade 12 exams begins today and not after the final exams.
C. The CROSSOVER Level [GRADES 12]: In Grade 12, the learners’ main focus is to do well in the final exams. The CROSSOVER program prepares the learners for these important exams by ensuring that they master and understand the subject content. In addition to that, the CROSSOVER main goal is to prepare learners for life after high school, irrespective of whether they will enroll at institutions of higher learning or will directly enter the working world.
